bright colors of red and pink
the frills, lace and trains
high shrieks of giddy girls
jumping up and down
and exchanging ideas
through cloth doors
unable to control their breathing
thick haze of hairspray
pins, a needle and thread
last minute alterations
she’s nothing but shivers,
rapid heartbeats and satisfaction
full-bodied in pure snow
from her veiled head
past her corseted waist
to her flowery pedicured feet¾
she stares at her royal reflection
with her bouquet in hand,
her eyes glowing.
I guess this is goodbye
